Baptism is the first important step that a parent can take to begin the lifelong process of faith formation for their child. When a child is baptized they receive the light of Christ’s love and are welcomed into the faith community. At the same time, the parents are making a commitment to raise their child in faith.
Parents interested in having a child baptized are required to attend a Baptism Preparation session. These sessions focus on the background of the sacrament, the meaning behind the symbolism and ritual, and an introduction to the role of parents in their child’s faith formation.
Sessions are held every other month on a Tuesday evening. The session begins with dinner and lasts about 2 hours.
Parents are encouraged to attend a session before their child is born. Onsite childcare is provided for older children if requested or needed. Baptisms are usually celebrated twice a month at 12:30 or during the 5:00, 9:00, or 10:45 Mass. Pre-registration is required. To register, call the parish office at 691-1173 x137 or email Kathy Paro.
