Exciting opportunity for a senior manager from a chemical manufacturing facility!
Our client is expanding and growing their business which held strong during the recent recession! They have also recently increased sales and are in a growth mode.
The Site Manager has responsibility for ensuring that all budgeted and expected measurements of performance are met for various areas of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental, and variable cost budget. He/she will be directly involved with all other aspects of the business. Time will be split between the office and plant floor.
Responsibilities will include:
• Managing plant personnel and budgets
• Reducing operations costs through efficient personnel usage, process optimization projects and debottlenecking efforts.
• Insuring Product Quality
• Plant Safety and Environmental concerns: OSHA Regulations; EHS standards, Environmental permitting and Community Relations.
• Interacts with the company Senior Management Team and coordinate with the Sales and R&D Product Development Group.
Skills Requirements:
• 15+ years experience in a chemical manufacturing plant
• BS Chemical Engineering - MBA a plus
• Management of People, Safety, Quality, EHS standards

JOB OBJECTIVE: This person is the developer and caretaker of Good Engineering Practices (GEP) procedures and standards, as well as process drawings and all process-related GMP documentation. In addition, this person will manage the procurement, storage, distribution, and documentation of all process system spare parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. GEP Procedures Development – Work with MSAT engineers and other stakeholders to develop a suite of procedures defining the required steps, guidelines, and standards for performing manufacturing process engineering at Promega.
2. Develop and maintain Promega Drafting Standards, GEP, Engineering and related Specifications.
3. Work with MSAT Engineers, technicians, and Operations personnel to identify, categorize, update, and control engineering data for new and legacy process systems.
4. Coordinate MSAT Engineering documentation, storage and control needs with other groups controlling document management software applications.
5. Create and maintain (CAD) MSAT engineering drawings in support of equipment projects and GMP activities. This includes generation of new drawings internally, and managing vendor-supplied drawings.
6. Perform the documentation, ordering, storage, and management of all manufacturing equipment spare parts.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education Equivalency:
a. A.S. in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical discipline, plus 3 years engineering experience, or
b. 5 years continuous experience in engineering and/or manufacturing supervision position.
2. Proven proficiency in 2D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent), with a minimum 5 years experience.
3. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to effectively work on many priorities at one time, which change frequently.
4. Proven ability to interact productively with team members.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Must be computer literate in Word and Excel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in an ISO 9000, FDA GMP, or USDA regulated environment.
2. Experience with automated liquid filling and/or high speed packaging equipment.
3. Experience with development of Engineering and/or Drafting Standards.
4. Experience using document management software applications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to work in a production environment around automated equipment.
2. Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation.
3. Ability to work in a lab environment with chemical and biological materials.
4. Ability to travel by car or airplane, for one or several days, to suppliers, equipment vendors, trade shows, etc.

JOB OBJECTIVE: A hands on management role that leads the development, planning, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new or existing products and technologies. Works closely with quality groups to ensure strict compliance with good manufacturing practices guidelines at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Provide technical and managerial leadership in all areas of responsibility.
• Effectively manages employee relations including hiring, discipline, rewards and recognition, and effective human capital resource allocation.
• Coach, advise, provide direction, educate, motivate, and oversee teams in the performance improvement process to increase manufacturing effectiveness across filling, lyophilization and packaging operations.
• Set the appropriate priorities for the department and provide leadership for daily direction setting and problem solving in order to maximize results.
• Develop departmental goals that support the strategic goals of Operations and the entire company.
2. Ensures compliance with all applicable corporate and regulatory SOP, cGMP, and safety guidelines.
3. Support new product design, and change from design phase through product launch.
4. Benchmarking Best Practice companies for improvements to filling, lyophilization and packaging operations.
5. Support groups in the specification, installation, start-up, validation and maintenance of production equipment.
6. Perform strategic planning, budgeting and operations analyses within all areas of responsibility. Manage financial performance with budget controls, variance management, and capital management.
7. Maintain ongoing analysis of key issues, projects, and objectives, and provide regular written reports that include metrics to summarize the status and trends of key operational parameters.
8. Coordinate activities and resolution of complex issues and potential problems related to manufacturing and inventory.
9. Ensures that all Manufacturing and Packaging procedures are kept up to date, and reflect current regulatory requirements.
10. Aggressively look for areas of manufacturing process improvement which may include additional capital investment, procedural revision or staffing changes.
11. Collaborate with internal lyophilization expertise in the development of new lyophilized products and processing of custom lyophilized products.
12. Will understand and comply with all elements of the Promega Quality System outlined for the position.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor of Science in a technical field such as engineering, microbiology, etc., with experience in business management OR Bachelors of Business with equivalent experience in filling and packaging.
2. Minimum ten years manufacturing supervision/management experience in filling and packaging (pharmaceutical, specialty Biochemicals, etc.).
3. Minimum five years’ experience in filling and or packaging in a regulated environment preferably Invitro Diagnostics or parenteral pharmaceutical.
4. Minimum five years project management experience in a technical area within a cross-functional team environment.
5. Must possess solid computer skills to include ERP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
6. Strong organizational and communication skills and a demonstrated ability and desire to share experience and knowledge with staff.
7. Experienced in managing controlled environments and/or clean room operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
2. Experience with Statistical Process Control and statistical quality.
3. Experience with product formulation.
4. Experience with operation of automated dispensing and packaging lines.
5. Experience with operation and maintenance of lyophilizers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to perform inspections of equipment and operations for cleanliness and safety.
2. Must have the ability to use computer equipment for extended periods of time.
3. Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
