Offered on the weekends:
Job Search Skills Development: Because we know that a job search is a process requiring skills, tools, opportunity, and faith, we offer a comprehensive series of skills development modules. Offered on Saturdays every 6 – 8 weeks, these provide you with skills enabling you to define and document your accomplishments and capabilities, research prospective employers, and develop a sound job search plan of action. A job search is a series of planned steps, not random events.
Offered on Thursday evenings:
SOAR support. Build your list of accomplishments (problem you had to deal with, the skills and experiences you used to solve it and the measureable outcome. These are the basis for the rest of your search preparation.
Narrative creation. Starting with the accomplishments list, we’ll help you draft your “story”. This becomes the basis for your resume, your networking talks, and, of course, the interview.
Resume review. You meet with skilled volunteers and cast a critical and supportive eye to the crafting of resumes (yes, more than one) that represent you in the best possible light. (every 4 weeks)
Interview practice. Need practice in this final step of the process? Meet with a skilled interviewer who will create a realistic interview experience, which will be video recorded to allow you to obtain the greatest benefit. You’ll receive a constructive critique, and a copy of the interview for additional study. (every 4 weeks). You’ll be amazed at what you learn!
Emotional Support: “We’re Unemployed!” Coping with unemployment as a couple. You will meet with a couple who have deep experience with the process of coping with life changing events and who have found they gained strength and knowledge of one-another. Best attended as a couple, as you’re going through this together.
