Prayer Shawl

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Over the course of the last year, several dedicated women have made prayer shawls for people in our community.  The shawls are meant to be a tangible sign of God’s love and the prayers that are woven into each shawl that is created.

When we set out to make a shawl, we offer a prayer intention for the recipient who may or may not be known to the person making the shawl.  In the process of knitting or crocheting, prayers are continually offered for healing, for comfort, for peace of mind.

As the recipient wraps him/herself in the shawl they are enfolded in the prayers held inside each stitch.

The prayer shawl ministry meets monthly to pray, knit or crochet, share patterns and fellowship, and enjoy tea and cookies.  As each shawl is completed we offer a blessing for the shawl and the person who will eventually receive it.  We are always open to new people, regardless of ability for needlework.  Our more experienced members would love to help you get started.  We meet in the Hospitality Room on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. Even if you can’t make the meetings, you are still welcome to contribute shawls made on your own.

Do you know someone who would benefit from a prayer shawl?  Just let us know by calling the parish office at 691-1173 or Clare Peiffer at 646-4133. More information on prayer shawls can be found at www.shawlministry.com.
