Boughs & Pine Cones and Waiting in Hope

You’ve heard of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and the fishes, how about the multiplication of the boughs and the pine cones? That’s what it felt like at Family Program on December 3 and 4.   We started with just a few pine boughs and ended up with extra, even after every family created an Advent wreath.  Thank you to all those who brought extra supplies. 5v74aln4g3hg3jb7rnko0qwqyal.jpgtxnl4nfqidu6n3i91yiiabqdjsl.jpgb932cyjk8skgdtkah80a0rngc1l.jpg

Those wreaths are one way we mark the passage of Advent – that season of hopeful waiting. And what are we waiting for? 5qhtczszbdmxhaf463q1nfmsrtl.jpg Jesus Christ.  We celebrate the birth of Jesus 2000 years ago, we watch for the ways he enters our lives each day, and we wait in hope for when Christ comes to usher in the Kingdom of God.

To prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus we encouraged families to read Matthew 2:9-11.  To ponder the mystery of God coming as a human being you can read Hebrews 1:1-3. 2i44noq9gy4m5fgr3s3iuc1ugkl.jpg
