What's This? Week Four

Week Four of our Lenten Tour of St. Anthony on the Lake
The Paschal Candle is a large, white, decorative candle used in certain liturgies. A new Paschal candle is blessed and lit every year at the Easter Vigil, and is used throughout the Easter season and during the year on special occasions, such as baptisms and funerals.
The Ambry houses the Holy Oils that are blessed by the Archbishop at the Chrism Mass held every year during Holy Week at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee. They are: The Oil of the Sick (for anointing of the sick), the Oil of the Catechumen (for Baptism) and The Holy Chrism (the beautiful scented oil used at Confirmation.)
The Book of Life contains the names of our deceased loved ones. It is brought forward and inscribed with their names during their Mass of Christian Burial (Funeral) and the book resides in the back of our church throughout the year.
The Stations of the Cross, designed by David Wanner surround the Nave (see Week I !) with an artistic retelling of Jesus’ journey to the cross. We pray these ancient prayers at any time of the year, but traditionally during Lent: Mondays at 1:30pm and Fridays at 6:00pm.
Mary and Joseph, original statues from our Mission Church whose Centennial we celebrated in June of 2018.
