Archdiocesan policy states that in the event of a trustee vacancy, the parish must follow the rules governing the election of parish trustees from the state of Wisconsin State Statute 187.19 which stipulates that trustees are to be elected “from and by the congregation”. Directives regarding the election of trustees are contained in Archdiocesan Parish Trustee Manual which states that the pastor may identify a nominee for each of the openings. In addition to the pastor’s nominees, other nominees may be accepted from the congregation prior to the election. Additional candidates must be nominated in writing by 10 or more registered parish members.
Here at St. Anthony our nominations for the current vacancies closed on April 7th. Three nominees for our Trustee Treasurer and Trustee Secretary vacancies have surfaced through this process and thankfully, they are very qualified, experienced, dedicated, and faithful parishioners.
On the weekend of May 11th and 12th the election for these positions will take place during the Masses. In accordance with the Trustee Manual, the two persons receiving the greatest number of votes cast shall be elected as trustees for a term of two years. In anticipation of that process, please take a few moments to get to know our nominees.
My name is Barbara Webb. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, attending St. Michael’s grade school and St. John’s Cathedral High School. I attended Marquette University’s College of Journalism for two years, switching to UW Milwaukee’s School of Business where I earned a BA in accounting. I subsequently sat for and passed the certified public accountant examination, earning the CPA designation. I have operated a solo accounting practice for the past 38 years and currently have an office located in Nashotah. I am widowed, have one daughter and three grandchildren. I volunteer on a weekly basis at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc and also at the Oconomowoc Arts Center. I am a member of the Hartland-Lake Country Rotary where I have served in the capacity of treasurer a number of times. I have been a member of St. Anthony’s parish for approximately 16 years. I have participated in the Alpha program four times, both as a participant and a helper. I am currently a Eucharistic Minister, serving at the 7:30 Mass. I have truly enjoyed becoming more involved in parish life. As an extension of this, I am interested in serving as a Treasurer Trustee, and I believe my accounting and tax backgrounds would enable me to be a valuable asset to this office.
