Partners in Mercy

“Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.”  Luke 6:36Partners in Mercy at St. Anthony on the Lake

In an effort to focus our Human Concerns efforts and generate stronger ownership by the parish community at large, we have identified a group of key outreach partners, with whom we are developing long-term, multi-faceted relationships.  Our commitment with this small group of ministries allows us to go deeper and help our parish members to get to know more personally the outreach undertaken in the name of the St. Anthony Community.

We are making the following commitments to our Partners in Mercy:

  1. Maintaining an ongoing direct service effort with the partnering ministry to be led and carried out by members of the St. Anthony Parish Community;

  2.  Providing an annual financial donation to the partnering ministry out of the Human Concerns Outreach Fund;

  3.  Organizing periodic parish-wide donation drives to support the partnering ministry;

  4.  Inviting a representative from the partnering ministry to give an update to the parish during all masses on a particular weekend once every 12-16 months.

MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary:

The purpose of MBHS is to create a new daytime homeless sanctuary and multi-resource center for homeless and at-risk homeless adults in Milwaukee’s impoverished Amani neighborhood (Milwaukee’s 53206 zip code).

In our work we all unite in honoring what is holy in each person, and encouraging his/her journey of self-discovery and purpose.  We are honored to build not only a safety net but real pathways of advancement.  Our faith is deepened by the experience of mutual transformation, not in “fixing” people.  We are blessed to be instruments of answered prayer.
