Peace with Creation
"Seeds of Peace and Hope"
All around us we can choose to see injustice and the broken relationship between God, humankind, and creation. We also can choose to see restoration and hope. To hope does not mean to stand still and quiet, but to act, pray, change, and reconcile with Creation and the Creator in unity, metanoia (repentance), and solidarity.
The Season of Creation is a time (September 1 - October 4) for Christians to come together in prayer and action for Creation. The symbol for this year is characterized by a dove carrying an olive branch, playing the role of the blessed messenger of peace after the flood when “the earth was filled with violence” (Genesis 6:13). Pope Leo XIV provided an official message “Seeds of Peace and Hope”.
This years theme, Peace With Creation, is inspired by reflections on Isaiah 32:14-18 “The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted; citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks, till the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest. The LORD’s justice will dwell in the desert, his righteousness live in the fertile field. The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”
