Opening the Door to Our New Staff Members

Fr. Tony Zimmer and Dr. Kathie Amidei • August 22, 2025

From Your Pastor's Desk

Last week Marty Van Hulle, our principal, introduced the newest additions to our school faculty and staff. We are so very grateful that they are a part of our St. Anthony on the Lake (SAL) team! And we wish them all the best as we begin yet another school year.

It is with great joy and excitement that I would like to first announce the appointment of our new Director of Stewardship and Communications.

After reviewing resumes, cover letters, and letters of recommendation, and conducting interviews, our search committee has recommended Taylor Baar as our candidate of choice. The position was offered to Taylor and he graciously accepted. As many of us know, Taylor is our former Director of Youth Ministry here at SAL. Taylor is highly qualified for the position. He not only has his master’s degree in theology but will soon complete his master’s degree in business administration as well. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position. He will begin his new role as our Director of Stewardship and Communications on September 1.

I look forward to serving with Taylor as we continue to make stewardship a way of life here at St. Anthony on the Lake. Be sure to welcome and congratulate him when you see him.

News from Faith Formation

We are delighted to welcome our new Director of Youth Ministry, Deanna Muñoz! She will be leading our Youth Ministry with our 9th- 12th grade teens and as a staff member in the Family Program.

She has a background in education and coaching and has shown leadership in the schools and faith communities she has lived in and served. Deanna has been married to David for 25 years
and they have three grown children, Michael, Zachery and Gabriella.

More than anything it is clear Deanna loves Jesus, and she loves people.

Those of us who have had the opportunity to get to know her all appreciate her energy, her warm smile and easy laugh, and are aware of how much her faith means to her. I wish each of you could have read her letters of reference. They were glowing! Deanna was described repeatedly as someone “who will be a wonderful addition to any staff she joins”.

We are blessed that she will continue the faithful path that Taylor Barr made in our Youth Ministry and Confirmation preparation program. She will also be a creative part of the Family Program Team. Deanna’s pastor in her previous parish said about her, “I can assure your organization will be hiring a passionate and extremely talented missionary disciple in Deanna Muñoz”. We hope Deanna and her husband David find a spiritual and loving home here at St. Anthony!
