Taizé Prayer Service
Models of Holiness, Witnesses of Peace

Over the next nine months, October through June, we will be holding a one hour Taizé style prayer service on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 7:00pm. In keeping with this year’s theme “Models of Holiness, Witnesses of Peace” each service will focus on one of the charisms of St. Francis of Assis.
Taizé prayer is a simple and contemplative form of Christian prayer that invites people to become quiet and attentive to God’s presence. Originating in the ecumenical Taizé Community in France, the prayer service typically includes short, repetitive chants, Scripture readings, periods of silence, candlelight, and brief spoken prayers. Repeated music allows the words to move from the mind into the heart, creating a peaceful atmosphere for reflection and worship.
Taizé prayer is especially suited to parish gatherings, Advent and Lenten services, retreats, and ecumenical celebrations. Rather than emphasizing many words or lengthy reflections, it creates space for silence, listening, and communion with God and with one another. Participants are encouraged to set aside the busyness of daily life and simply rest in God’s presence, allowing the music, Scripture, and silence to deepen their faith and open their hearts to peace.
We hope you will consider joining us and experiencing the beauty of this style of prayer. All are welcome!
